Us

The association is made up of an elected board, an operational team of comics and development professionals, a network of comics and illustration artists, experts and volunteers.

Our story

The Ink Link was born in 2016 after the success of a research project in Suriname: Laure Garancher, a public health expert, heard the offended remarks of Amazonian populations about posters promoting vaccinations, depicting them as superheroes.

As a cartoonist, she joined three communities, accompanied by Wilfrid Lupano (writer) and Mayana Itoïz (cartoonist), to create health-promoting cartoons with the local people.

And it's a success!

The Ink Link association was created to use comics to support public health projects.

Recognition of our expertise

Since then, our innovative nature has been recognized, with us winning the Inventer la solidarité sociale prize from the Cognac-Jay Foundation and the Hors Case prize from the Lyon Comics Festival in 2018, and the organization of a Quand la BD s'en mêle exhibition at the Maison des Peuples et de la Paix, during the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2019.

Our raison d'être

The Ink Link now supports all players in the social economy (associations, institutions) working for a more united and inclusive society, in the creation of information tools aimed at vulnerable groups or the public. Thanks to the work of comic strip artists, publishers and experts, we are able to produce high-impact illustrated projects that increase people's power to act in the fields of health and mental health, education, respect for women's rights, the rights of displaced people, the environment and regional development.

Our values and commitments

All our members are committed to respecting our values:

We promote egalitarian and non-stereotyped communication.
We campaign for fair and equal remuneration for the artists working with us, and set rates in line with the Charte des auteurs et illustrateurs jeunesse.
To this end, we sign a guideline of mutual commitment when we first work with an artist.
